    14. Aberdeen, Highlands and Islands branch Annual Dinner

      February 2014 will see the EI's Aberdeen Highlands and Islands branch once again host their highly acclaimed Annual Dinner at The Marcliffe Hotel and Spa at Pitfodels. The huge success in previous years has seen the event become the biggest of its kind and a cornerstone of the North East energy industry calendar.

    4. Certificate in Energy Management Essentials

      Complete an introductory qualification designed to give participants an overview in the fundamentals of energy management. The course includes participation in five days of energy management workshops. Delegates will be assessed by exam at the end of the week, and will receive the Energy Institute Certificate in Energy Management Essentials on successful completion.

    4. 13th UK Heat Transfer Conference and call for abstracts

      Imperial College London and the Energy Futures Lab are delighted to be hosting the 13th UK Heat Transfer Conference (UKHTC 2013) at the College on the 2 and 3 September 2013. The call for abstracts is now open and we would welcome submissions for full papers or posters.
    5. Micro and Nano Flows 2014 - Advancing the engineering science in thermofluids and biomedicine

      MNF2014 will focus on thermal and fluid aspects of small-scale flows, encompassing thermofluids engineering and biomedical fluid mechanics. Problems relating to analysis and modelling still need to be resolved, especially as scales reduce from micro to nano levels. A special session will also be organised on new ultrafine optical measurement methods.

    2. The role of the electricity network in the low carbon economy

      In this talk, Derek Fairbairn and Jon Bird from Northern Powergrid, the electricity distribution company for the North East and Yorkshire, will discuss how Northern Powergrid is working to help developers by making the connection process as painless as possible, and how the company's smart grid project, the Customer-Led Network Revolution, is exploring ways to keep down the cost of delivering electricity as we progress into the low carbon economy.

Formal proceedings start promptly at 18.00, with refreshments served afterwards. Following refreshments, EI members will be afforded the opportunity of a guided tour of the new leisure centre which includes sustainable design features.
