WPC Grant Competition 2011

The Youth Committee of the WPC is encouraging students to get involved with the 20th World Petroleum Congress. The student Grant Program was launched at the 19th World Petroleum Congress in Madrid in 2008. This program provides students with the opportunity to participate at the 20th WPC for free in exchange for their part time services at the Event.  Students will have the opportunity to attend lectures and be able to network with senior professionals, other students and young professionals at the 20th WPC. 

 

The successful candidate will be required to arrive in Doha, Qatar by Saturday 2 December 2011 to participate in the two day volunteer training programme.  The 20th WPC will be held from 4 – 8 December 2011.  For more information about the conference visit www.20wpc.com

 

Specific training will be provided to student to help them perform their role at the 20th WPC.  The training is mandatory and any student who fails to attend the volunteer training program will not be eligible for the Student Grant Program.  The 20th WPC Organizing Committee will present all the volunteering students an official Certificate that recognizes their contribution in the hosting of the 20th WPC.

 

The successful candidate must not be employed in any type of professional capacity, and must provide:

 

  • Passport copy
  • Student ID Card copy (i.e. credentials that they are currently enrolled in University Studies, Graduate Degree or Doctorate Programmes; these studies should be related to scientific or technical careers: Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Physics, etc.)
  • CV copy

The EI would like to invite any current student member who meets the above eligibility criteria to apply for the position.

  • write a summary (150-200 words) of why you are interested in working in the oil and gas sector and how attending WPC will help you fulfil your aims;
  • attach your CV; 
  • complete the Student Grant Nomination Form; and 
  • return to pd@energyinst.org by midnight Sunday 22 May

 

The successful candidate will be notified by Friday 27 May.  The eligible candidate will then have to complete a student delegate registration form on the 20th WPC website by 31 May.  Details and instructions regarding registration will be forwarded to the nominated candidate.
