Hydrogen-powered canal boat
The Ross Barlow canal boat stores hydrogen in the form of metal hydride powder, which then releases the hydrogen by decreasing pressure. The boat was developed by Professor Rex Harris and his team at Birmingham University. Harris believes the approach could eventually be scaled up to larger craft such as passenger ferries. -

Biofuels review commissioned by the UK Government from the independent UK Renewable Fuels Agency. The Review, published in July 2008, aims to examine the scale of the indirect effects of current biofuels production, and to propose solutions. -

The Renewable Fuels Agency (RFA)'s 2011 second Annual Report to Parliament on the impacts of the UK's Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO). The report includes verified data comparing the carbon and sustainability performance of individual fuel suppliers.
