The EI needs you...to become a mentor
The Energy Institute (EI) is looking to recruit mentors to help members working towards professional membership or chartered status. If you hold a professional title with the EI (for example. CEng, IEng, CEnv, CSci, MEI etc.), then you could help others to achieve their goals.
There will be several mentoring workshops held around the UK in 2012, the first of which is in Aberdeen on 23 May. During this workshop participants will find out about the role of a mentor, what mentoring for the EI involves, hear directly from a professional review interviewer, learn about common difficulties candidates experience when applying for professional membership and be able to share their experiences and hear from others in the group.
If you sign up to be a mentor with the EI you will be paired with someone that works in a similar area of the sector to you and that holds, or is working towards, the same professional or chartered title as you have. You will be expected to be in contact with them 4-6 times a year by phone and email to discuss their progress.
The EI is also developing a mentoring toolkit to support new mentors. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, would like to find out about future workshop dates or receive a copy of the mentoring toolkit then please contact Kate Dinwiddy, EI Professional Development Manager at e: kdinwiddy@energyinst.org
