Electricity Market Reform (EMR) - what's in place, what still has to be done for the biggest changes in the electricity market?
Venue:CMS Cameron McKenna (CMCK), Mitre House, 160 Aldersgate Street, London EC1A 4DD
The planned electricity market reform (EMR) in the UK is the biggest change in this very large sector since its privatisation over 20 years ago. The policy ideas here are understandably attracting much interest across the EU and worldwide.
Some of the key decisions have been made already, but many of the commercially vital design and operational considerations are being developed currently, eg the nature of contracts for differences, the capacity mechanism etc.
The purpose of this workshop is to briefly review what is committed, but especially to enable discussion on what remains work in progress.
UKWEC has secured an absolutely outstanding trio of speakers, including the Energy Minister responsible, Charles Hendry MP, Steve Holliday,FEI, the Chief Executive of the National Grid, who play a crucial role in implementation, and the Chief Executive of one of the Big 6 utilities who will be involved, Volker Beckers, FEI, of RWE npower.
