The Safety Management Group (SMG) is a committee of safety specialists who, through activities and programmes, aim to continually improve the safety performance of the industry, and contribute to responsible and sustainable operation of the industry.
SMG conducts or sponsors cost-effective scientific and technical work on priority safety issues, such as the procurement of scientific data, or development of guidance (eg, publications, training resources, etc). This work is undertaken by a series of committees that report to SMG.
SMG manages the safety projects budget and takes a strategic role in the management of safety in the petroleum industry. SMG has the facility to establish new committees on emerging major issues.
