Oil and gas training courses - technical guidance

In 2010 the EI launched a new strand of training based on EI technical publications. This training builds on two EI strengths as a key training provider for the energy industry and the wealth of technical knowledge held by the organisation. Initial topics will focus on the most popular EI publications and will continue to ensure that energy professionals are working to the highest safety and competency standards.

The EI are running the following courses in 2013:


Filling Station Design and Engineering

This one day workshop will introduce the fundamentals of filling station design and engineering considerations using established industry guidance the Blue Book. The course will cover the technical aspects of handling petroleum products at filling stations and provide an understanding of how these relate to established good practice and UK legal requirements.

This training course can be used as CPD: 6 hours



Corrosion Management Essentials

This 2-day workshop will describe the model process of Corrosion Management for the upstream oil and gas industry and is based on the Energy Institute publication `Guidance for corrosion management in oil and gas production and processing´. The workshop will provide practical advice for successful implementation of a corrosion management policy using practical examples of corrosion threats and mitigation methods.

This training course can be used as CPD: 12 hours



Introduction to Carbon Capture and Storage

The two day course will give an overview of the capture, transport and storage aspects of CCS. The technical and safety requirements of each stage of the chain will be assessed and put into a larger context using case studies and real life examples.

Essentials of Aviation Fuel Filtration - based on EI 1550

This two day course delivers an essential guide to aviation fuel cleanliness monitoring and control.  It provides critical information through practical and interactive instruction – based on the international API/EI 1550 international standards handbook.

This training course can be used as CPD: 12 hours


Human Factors Training

The Human Factors programme will utilise the EI's experience and expertise within the subject to deliver practical and informative training.  The programme now includes Basic Human Factors Awareness and Incident Investigation and Analysis.
