Oil is the largest element in the regional energy mix and coal – largely for power generation – has been the fastest growing.
While in 2019, around 90% of the power generated in the region came from conventional sources (coal, gas and hydro), while renewables contributed to less than 10%, according to research firm IHS Markit.

"Before the course, I had a little professional experience in domestic zero-carbon energy technology but I was inexperienced in any other theory and practical topic, audits etc. This provided me with the building blocks to understand this, including the calculations, quickly.
