Training Manager

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, manager to oversee the development and management of our training courses. You’ll be responsible for managing trainers, researching and developing content and preparing proposals for clients who want training. In addition, you’ll be managing the training officer and overseeing delivering of our classroom courses as well as working with the marketing team on the marketing campaigns.

What you’ll do:

This role is part of our small, busy, friendly, London-based training team, you’ll be creating and managing the delivery of classroom and online training courses that support the professional development of energy industry personnel.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Content development – manage the content development and improvement work for the EI’s Risk Management and Oil and Gas Training Portfolio
  • Formats – manage the different types of course delivery ranging from classroom, in-company to digital training
  • Business development - Work with the business development and marketing team to recruit new clients and develop client proposals and quotations in line with their learning requirements
  • Marketing – work with the marketing team to ensure the effective promotion of courses by collecting and analysing feedback from participants/trainees, advertising, email campaigns and many more
  • Quality Assurance – Manage the quality assurance process of all training projects and evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes
  • Line management – Line-manage the Training Officer and working closely with the Digital Training Officer to ensure smooth coordination, provision and marketing of all training programmes and services
  • Budget – Forecast and manage the course budget for their portfolio
  • Processes – work in an efficient manner and follow all internal processes to ensure content is signed off in time and keep track of all paid activity from a budget perspective.
  • Provide some admin support – deal with customer queries and registrations.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:

  • Analytical skills
  • 1-2 years’ experience in creating and managing training courses
  • Adaptability and being able to multi-task and work to tight deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness and familiarity with budgets


  • An interest in energy and climate change
  • Experience negotiating contracts

Salary: £29,000 – £33,000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits
