We’re looking for a results-driven, ambitious and experienced corporate sales representative to join our Training team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in sales / business development and excellent interpersonal skills to actively seek out and engage customer prospects. You will be responsible for interacting with customers and potential clients, presenting the Energy Institute’s training products and services, closing deals and generating profit for the business, as well as identifying new business opportunities. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication and negotiation skills.

What you’ll do:
- Support the Head of EI Academy in developing new business by building a personal network of relevant leads within target organisations and recruiting new clients.
- Establish and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring you keep abreast of their learning and development needs and log customer and prospect interactions into our CRM system.
- Use your knowledge of the EI’s products and services to create complete and appropriate solutions and proposals to address customers’ needs, ensuring that focus is maintained on revenue growth and profitability and that sales efforts are coordinated with team members and other departments where appropriate.
- Be the prime salesperson to lead on the presentation, promotion, and sales of solutions / products / services using solid and compelling arguments that articulate our value proposition to existing and prospective customers.
- Proactively manage the sales process from prospecting to close for corporate clients, utilising internal resources as needed and effectively negotiating pricing and contractual terms within prescribed guidelines.
- Achieve or exceed corporate sales targets and outcomes within schedule.
- Research and provide reports on market trends, sales, customer needs / problems, competitor activities, and potential for new products and services to grow the EI’s portfolio.
- In conjunction with the Head of EI Academy, identify new business opportunities, e.g., sponsorship of courses, training partnerships licensing of certification schemes etc.
- Contribute to marketing, business development and quality strategies and overall team development, based on client intelligence and market research.
- Continuously improve through feedback.
- Carry out additional projects as may arise from time to time, with a focus on business and personal development.
The knowledge, experience, and qualifications you need:
- Proven work experience in a sales or business development role or similar (ideally 2+ years of proven sales experience, with a focus on corporate sales)
- Proven success achieving and exceeding quotas
- Familiarity with BRM and CRM practices along with ability to build productive business professional relationships
- Highly motivated and target-driven with a proven track record in sales
- Excellent selling, negotiation and communication skills, with a strong understanding of the sales process, from prospecting to close
- Prioritising, time management and organisational skills, including ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively
- Creative and customer-focused mindset, with ability to create and deliver presentations and proposals tailored to the audience needs
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills and openness to feedback
- Ability to understand the Energy Institute from the perspective of members and customers and understand their needs
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, or a related field
- A high standard of written and spoken English
Desirable:
- Customer service training
- Experience using a membership CRM/database system or similar
- Have experience of undertaking research projects and producing reports of the findings
- Knowledge of GDPR protection policies
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy in providing statistical data and reports
- Willingness to travel, including some occasional overnight stays
Salary: £28,000-£31,000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits
