North Eastern YPN

The North Eastern Energy Institute YPN exists to help support young professionals working in the energy industry. Through events, careers development seminars, site visits and networking sessions, the YPN offers young professionals the chance to connect, engage and grow.

To get involved please contact the YPN chair Ed Walker via the contacts page.

The North East YPN are fortunate enough to have excellent links with local organisations involved in the Energy Industry and regular site visits are a popular feature of the network. Previous events include:

  • A visit to Sita UK's Energy from Waste Plant in Hartlepool
  • A visit to Siemens Generation in Newcastle
  • A visit to the testing and R&D facilities at the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec) owned by ORE Catapult
  • Energy Efficiency; Lessons from the food and beverage industry - a one-day intensive training and development session with speakers working in this niche area
  • Energy careers; thinking outside the box - a careers seminar covering large scale offshore developments, modular nuclear generation, the challenges of community energy and the options for careers support within the Energy Industry.

There are already several events planned for 2016/17, including a visit to Drax, an annual careers development seminar, a tour of the EDF-owned Barmoor Wind Farm in Northumberland and various other networking events and branch socials. Events will be posted on the website throughout the year, but feel free to contact the YPN for more information in the meantime.
