HM 62. Guidelines for cargo inspection order management

The extent of an independent inspection varies significantly. It can range from sampling a tank to something extremely complex such as multi-cargo, multi-port marine operation or onboard blending. The vast majority of problems around inspections arise from errors and omissions which should have been identified during the order process.

This publication has been developed to assist those involved in order management, explaining how the process should be managed and identifying the information which is required at each stage:

-         Order nomination

-         Order review, and

-         Order acceptance and confirmation

The publication should be of interest and benefit to operators and others within oil and trading companies who are generating inspection company nominations and also to the inspection companies who are receiving these instructions.
