This is an exciting opportunity to join the University's Sustainability Team as it coordinates a programme of work to deliver the University's commitment to become zero carbon by 2048.
A key part of the role is monitoring the University's use of utilities (annual spend circa £20M) and identifying areas of potential savings. The post holder has responsibility for maintaining and developing an effective utility management system and ensuring that data collection is efficient and comprehensive. The post holder helps to ensure that the University fulfils its statutory and regulatory obligations in relation to utilities, and produces data and reports to support a wide range of University policies and commitments.
This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to improving the energy and carbon performance of the University's large and diverse estate, the complexity of which presents unique challenges and opportunities when addressing energy management.
The Sustainability Team is a dynamic and committed team that works with stakeholders from across the University and beyond, to help the University achieve its vision to make a positive impact through outstanding environmental sustainability performance.
Candidates should be highly numerate with excellent attention to detail and the ability to analyse and present data. They must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess a good understanding of energy issues, policy and legislation relevant to the higher education sector. Knowledge and experience of energy management software and utility monitoring systems is highly desirable.
Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
