The EI is the only professional body in the UK specifically devoted to the energy sector.
Our members work in a wide variety of areas, from extraction and generation to distribution and supply, research and development to the environment and promoting energy efficiency. You’ll find EI members in every aspect of energy: oil and gas, renewables and green energy, retail and distribution, law, economics and HR.
As well as awarding professional membership to those who meet industry standards, we’re licensed by:
• the Engineering Council to award Chartered, Incorporated and Engineering Technician status
• the Science Council to award Chartered Scientist status, and
• the Society for the Environment to award Chartered Environmentalist status
We also have a number of titles exclusive to the Energy Institute – Chartered Energy Manager, Chartered Energy Engineer, and Chartered Petroleum Engineer.
Our pre-professional grades (Student, Graduate and Affiliate) are for those who studying energy, taking their first steps into the profession or who have a general interest in energy and want to keep up to date with what is going on the sector.
Our professional membership grades and chartered titles are for those with typically four of more years of experience, who are recognised as meeting the standards set by the energy industry.
