External recognition

Members of the EI may be eligible for recognition under various Competent Persons schemes in Australia, Canada and the UK.

  • Alberta Securities Commission in Canada accept suitably experienced EI Members and Fellows as similarly qualified to undertake reserves evaluations. The EI was added to the list in 2007 and is the only professional membership organisation outside of North America to be recognised.
  • Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) - Chartered Petroleum Engineers may be recognised under ASX rules as satisfying the requirements of ‘qualified petroleum reserves and resources evaluators’. Providing EI members with this registration means they will be accepted by the ASX’s new listing regulations in relation to petroleum reserves and resources reporting.
  • CSCS cards – CEng and IEng members of the EI are eligible to apply for a PQP (professionally qualified person) card to verify construction workers’ competency.
