This module will provide offshore workers with an overview of waste management and different types of control measures that can be implemented for good practice and risk mitigation. 

Module Topics: 

The Waste Awareness module covers the following topics: 

  • Introduction to waste management
  • Environmental aspects of waste
  • Types and sources of offshore waste
  • Control measures
  • Waste good practice

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this module you will have an understanding of:

  • What is waste?
  • What are the environmental impacts of waste disposal?
  • What is hazardous and non-hazardous waste?
  • What are the sources of waste offshore?
  • Why should you segregate waste?
  • What does the law state?
  • Your responsibilities regarding waste management.

Who should take this course?

This course is aimed at building awareness of environmental issues. It is intended for those who are responsible for operations within the offshore oil and gas industries e.g. senior managers, managers, supervisors, and operators – as well as those seeking an introduction to environmental awareness, but have little-to-no prior knowledge of the subject.
