'Well Life Cycle Integrity'.

The first issue of the UK well integrity guidelines was published in 2012 and Steve presented them at a joint meeting in February 2013. Steve is returning to describe how the guidelines have developed over the last 6 years and the key integrity issues that have been addressed.

Steve will describe why the UK wells guidelines were written and provide an overview on the current wells guidelines, highlighting the key role that the wells guidelines play in competence. The presentation will be equally useful for those who have no knowledge of the well integrity guidelines and those who are familiar with previous issues who want to see what is in the latest issue and understand why.

‘Asset Integrity – Inspector Competence’.

Paul’s presentation will highlight the inspector competence requirements under UKAS RG2. There are currently no academic routes specifically for inspection engineering. The presentation will discuss the current vocational routes and proposed future competence and training schemes.

In a world where the asset integrity and inspection activities are driven by RBI programmes, it’s essential that the information being fed into the RBI is accurate, relevant and that the inspector on the ground is competent and has the technical knowledge to identify any gaps or shortcomings in the inspection regime. Currently, there are no formal academic course relating specifically to the inspection and assessment of static mechanical plant. The industry relies heavily on vocation training programmes, such as the API and ASME inspector courses. The presentation will highlight the differences between the training programmes and introduce a potential upstream UK inspector training scheme.
