This event is a part of the Grow Series of events delivered by Energy Institute Young Professionals Network Aberdeen, Highlands & Islands (EIYPN AHI) Branch.
This event is an important part of the series as although workforce diversity is increasing, the energy industry in the UK has historically under-represented women and ethnic minorities. While it is widely regarded that a more diverse and inclusive work environment is key to innovation, and results in happier and more productive employees, according to OGV, women only account for 32% of the global energy workforce while racial and ethnic minorities account for 22% of the workforce.
As young professionals, we have a duty of care to continue changing the outlook on Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) in the energy industry. By being the changemakers we can ensure a safe, equal, and supportive environment regardless of differences. As young professionals, we need to recognise that diversity is crucial and enables further innovation within the energy industry and have a duty of care to raise awareness and empower those who face adversity.
In this event, a panel of distinguished energy professionals will cover their professional journey and frame D&I in the context of gender, ethnic minorities, and neurodiversity. You will learn what it is like to be diverse in the energy industry, what is needed to support your colleagues, and how to be a good diversity champion in your company and beyond.
This event is specifically targeted at young professionals, however, attendees at all levels, including students and senior professionals are welcome to join.
