Technical Manager - Data Offshore Wind

Do you want to play an active part in making offshore wind a safer place by helping industry to promote and maintain health and safety in their operations across the globe and enable joint learning from shared incident lessons?

We are looking for an analytical, highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates initiative, attention to detail and can work with a minimum of supervision. Ideally you have got a science, or engineering based degree, and/or several years of operational experience in either a health and safety role or in the offshore wind industry. Experience in data analysis and presentation would be advantageous but are not essential.

We are flexible on location, but, when travel is allowed, frequent travel to the London head office would be required.

G+ is run in partnership with the Energy Institute, which provides the secretariat and supports its work including the analysis of health and safety incident data provided by G+ members to monitor performance and trends and identify risks.

What you’ll do:

This role is part of our busy, friendly EI technical wind team, supporting the G+ by analysing the health and safety incident data provided by G+ members to monitor performance and trends and identify risks.

The successful candidate will need to juggle diverse activities across the G+ and EI activities:

• Analysis – ensure the regular collation, processing and analysis of health and safety incident data submitted by members of the G+ across the world
• Interpretation – present incident data to support the development of key internal and external reports, individual workstreams, publications and benchmarking metrics
• Presentation – ensure the timely delivery of the G+ annual incident data report
• Shared learnings – liaise with the EI Toolbox team to integrate Offshore Wind safety alerts into the web application and to support the shared learnings from high potential incidents cross sectors with specific focus on offshore wind operations.
• Offshore wind stats on web pages –update health and safety statistics published on the G+ website.
• General admin support – secretariat support for G+ committees including recording minutes, preparation of agendas, and progression of meeting actions and agreements with members and stakeholders.
• Communication and networking – liaising with members and stakeholders at events and exhibitions

The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need:

• A science, or engineering based degree or demonstrated work experience in applied data analysis.
• Operational H&S experience or experience in the offshore wind industry
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• To deliver a message through a presentation
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office suite
• Highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates initiative
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Ability to communicate well, including with senior representatives within the energy industry
