Technical Officer Onshore Wind

Who we’re looking for:

Do you want to play an active part in making onshore wind a safer place by helping industry to promote and maintain health and safety in their operations across the globe and enable joint learning from shared incident lessons?

We are looking for a highly organised and motivated self-starter who demonstrates initiative, attention to detail and can work with a minimum of supervision. Knowledge of the onshore wind or renewables industry would be advantageous but is not essential.

SafetyOn is the health and safety organisation for the Onshore wind sector. SafetyOn is providing leadership in health and safety for the dynamic and innovative onshore wind industry. We ensure transparency about the industry’s H&S performance, as well as assisting industry stakeholders to see that key emerging risks are mitigated through co-operation and shared learning.

SafetyOn is run in partnership with the Energy Institute, which provides the secretariat and supports its work programme. This includes the engagement with its growing Tier 2 membership.

What you’ll do:

This role is part of our small, busy, friendly, London-based EI technical wind team. You will support the SafetyOn Tier 2 membership engagement programme including the administration of the members’ data base, development of engagement activities and running stakeholder events.

You will also support and administrate the Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSRs) training programme. The WTSRs are a model set of Safety Rules and procedures to help formalise a Safe System of Work to manage the significant risks associated with a wind turbine, both onshore and offshore. The WTSR are hosted by the EI.

The successful candidate will need to juggle diverse activities across the SafetyOn and EI activities and will have experience liaising and communicating with a variety of stakeholders, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

You will also support the EI Wind team in providing general admin support for the SafetyOn committees including recording minutes, preparation of agendas, and progression of meeting actions and agreements with members and stakeholders.

• Highly motivated self-starter who demonstrates initiative
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Ability to communicate well, including with senior representatives within the energy industry
• Excellent customer/client service skills

Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits
