Extraordinary General Meeting 2021
Online
18/02/2021
13:00 - 13:30
Online
By Order of Council 28 January 2021 | Louise Kingham OBE FEI | Chief Executive
-------------------------
Agenda
- Welcome
- Resolution proposed:
Under Bye Law 24, the President shall hold office for a period not exceeding two years.
Resolution 1: That this Bye Law be amended to read, The President shall hold office on such terms and conditions and for such period as are determined from time to time in Regulations.
Rationale
Following a review of current governance good practice and informal consultation with the Privy Council, the EI’s Council recommends that the term of office for the President be aligned with the length of terms for other Officers of Council which is 3 years for a first term.
Recent Presidents have observed that a 2-year term passes very quickly and a 3-year tenure is more widely accepted to enable the President to achieve his/her objectives.
Council Regulations will specify that, subject to members’ agreement at an AGM, this 3-year term may be extended by up to 2 years. However, the expectation is that each President will serve a 3-year term before being succeeded.
