This 10-hour self-paced online module from the Level 2: Energy Management Professional training qualification provides an introduction to building management systems (BMS).

You will gain an understanding of the role and typical components of a BMS, the fundamentals of control theory, data gathering systems, and how a BMS can be used to optimise building performance. You can also carry out a feasibility study into which type of BMS to install in your organisation.

This course can be started at any time, is assessed via a short online test and you will receive a certificate upon completion.

  • Anyone with 1-2 years’ relevant experience either working as an Energy Manager or another related area such as Building Services, Energy Engineering, Sustainability, Facilities Management, Procurement or Energy Consultancy
  • Anyone who has successfully completed the EI’s Level 1: Certificate in Energy Management Essentials training course
  • Although there are no official prerequisites, it is recommended that you have at least A-level maths or equivalent to take this module
