Topic

Bristol is leading the way in sustainability, aiming to become carbon neutral by 2050. Since 2005, Bristol City Council has delivered a wide range of energy efficiency programmes and is anticipated to meet its carbon reduction target for 2020 early.

We will be hearing about Bristol City Councils City Leap programme which is designed to significantly reduce the city’s carbon footprint through a series of energy and infrastructure projects. A key aspect of infrastructure for cities is to resolve the delivery of low carbon heat to residents and businesses, which represents 45% of final UK energy demand. Sonya Bedford and James Sterling will be discussing the councils existing renewable energy and district heating projects, and how these have contributed to reducing energy waste.

The full City Lead opportunities are outlined in the Bristol City Council Prospectus: www.energyservicebristol.co.uk/wp-content/pdf/City_Leap_Prospectus%204-5-18.pdf

Speakers:

Sonya Bedford MBE – Head of Renewable Energy at Stephens Scown, Exeter
James Sterling – Communications, Engagement and Partnership Manager at Bristol City Council
