About this course?
The course will illustrate how the PSM Framework can be applied to identify address the hazards that are involved in the most industries and provide assurance that risk is being managed to a tolerable level. In addition, the course will demonstrate how Process Safety Management addresses all aspects of operational excellence and asset integrity and as such, can deliver safety and bottom line business benefits.

Dr Martin Ball
Martin Ball is a consultant with more than 35 years experience working in the energy sector. He is a Chemical Engineer by training and started his career with Exxon at their refinery at Fawley in the UK. With Exxon he developed experience of, and held managerial positions responsible for, process operations, maintenance and technical support. He was involved in the development and implementation of the Exxon Operations Integrity Management and Maintenance and Asset Management Systems.
Since leaving Exxon in 1996, Martin has been in consulting, working with major clients in the energy industry, to improve business, maintenance and asset integrity and process safety performance. This has included the development and implementation of availability and maintenance improvement projects with clients across the globe. His clients include companies in the upstream and downstream oil, chemicals, power generation and power distribution sectors.
Martin is a member of the Energy Institute Process Safety Committee and led the work of the sub-group which has developed the Energy Institute Framework for Process safety Management and the guidelines to support the framework. Martin is also the founder of the EI Process Safety Survey benchmarking service. Martin has run a number of well received training courses and workshops for the Energy Institute.
