North Sea: What’s Next?
The Energy Institute Young Professionals Network (EIYPN) is proud to present a LEARN event exploring the future of the North Sea energy sector – its role, relevance, and the opportunities it holds for our generation of professionals.
With ongoing industry consolidation, evolving government policy, and rising questions around energy security and climate targets, it’s a pivotal moment for the UKCS. This event cuts through the noise of media headlines to offer balanced, informed perspectives from experienced industry voices – spanning operators, service providers, policy experts and young professionals.
We’ll explore what recent M&A activity means for the future of investment and jobs, how companies are adapting to shifting regulation and public sentiment, and why domestic production still matters in the UK’s long-term energy strategy. Alongside this, we’ll examine the long-view: what the basin might look like in 2035, the skills needed to succeed, and how Aberdeen can continue to thrive as a centre for energy talent and innovation.
Expect candid insights, thoughtful debate, and actionable takeaways. Whether you’re in operations, subsurface, policy, communications, or early in your career – this is your chance to better understand where the industry is headed, and how you can shape it. Join us for a dynamic panel discussion, live Slido polling, Q&A, and the opportunity to connect over dinner and drinks with peers from across the sector.
Speakers:
- Ryan Crighton, True North Advisors
- Jillian Owen, Viaro Energy
- Sandy Merson, Petrofac
