The YPN Connect, Energy Institute Young Professionals Network (EI YPN, Nigeria) program is a learning initiative for all energy professionals in and around the energy sphere to gain technical exposure to vital resources. While fostering a social networking session with peers and also experienced stakeholders - which would include Chartered Engineers (CEng), Chartered Environmentalists (CEnv), Chartered Energy Managers, Fellows, and other professional members of the Energy Institute, who share an enthusiasm for energy and have unparalleled knowledge and experience of the sector.
It is an overall investment in the future of energy in Nigeria and globally by ensuring the skills and knowledge of each community member advance through various technical sessions held - to attract and retain talents in Nigeria.
The ‘YPN Connect’ event was started for the following objectives:
- · Share real-life knowledge, hacks and ideas relating to the energy industry
- · Provide a strong social networking basis among young professionals as well as with top executives
Onyinye Anene-Nzelu, Head of Mini Grids – ENGIE Energy Access Africa
Onyinye is the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Sub-Saharan African Region Young Energy Professional of the year 2020. She is an Alumnus of the Enel Foundation, Open Africa Power and the first female Certified Energy Manager (CEM) in Nigeria. She is a versatile professional with 10 years of experience in ICT consulting and Energy Management.
She is currently the Head of Mini-Grids at ENGIE Energy Access Nigeria. She is responsible for building a high performing team that will electrify rural communities, stimulate demand and build a profitable business. She is knowledgeable in Renewable Energy Systems, Energy Management, Power Utility Management, Energy Market Tariff Modelling and Power System planning. She is adept at conceptualizing and implementing innovative policies and systems that improve business efficiency.
Onyinye has a Master's in Energy Technology and Management from the University of Ibadan and a Bachelor's in Electronics and Computer Engineering from Nnamdi Azikiwe University. She is a Certified Expert in Climate and Renewable Energy Finance from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. She has also completed executive training from the Florence School of Regulation, Italy, University of South Africa Graduate Business School, National Power Training Institute, Nigeria. She is a Registered Engineer in Nigeria, a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Association of Energy Engineers, USA.
