The energy transition presents significant challenges and opportunities for the oil, gas, and power sectors. In some cases, the emergence of low carbon fuels, and applications such as hydrogen and ammonia, along with technologies like battery energy storage systems requires a re-evaluation of existing process safety thinking and practices. The EI's Process Safety Committee (PrSC) is seeking to update, and where relevant, adapt its published resources to meet the evolving needs of the energy transition and better serve its members and the wider industry.
This year, the PrSC published the following documents, which have been revised to reflect current industry practice, including a high-level consideration for emerging low carbon energy solutions:
• Guidance on applying inherent safety in design – Reducing process safety hazards whilst optimising CAPEX and OPEX (3rd edition)
• Guidance for training on emergency decision-making in loss of containment incidents (2nd edition)
• Guidance on fire, combustible gas and toxic gas detection system development (2nd edition)
Join us for this webinar to hear from Carolyn Nicholls, PrSC Chair about the wider activities of the Committee and from Dr. Zsuzsanna Gyenes of Global industrial Safety Solutions Ltd., the technical author, about the key updates across all three documents and what they mean for organisations across and beyond the energy sector.
