Navigating EU Regulations – Technologies and best practices
OGDC companies are struggling to find technologies that comply with EU regulations. This session will delve into the technologies available that meet these regulatory thresholds. Experts will give a brief explanation of the technology they use and give use cases. This webinar will be a Q&A session with a moderator.
This webinar is part of an ongoing series designed to accelerate methane emissions reduction by promoting the adoption of effective technologies. It does so by raising awareness and showcasing both existing and emerging solutions, use cases, and industry examples.
Originally developed by the Methane Guiding Principles (MGP) and its signatories, the series will now be hosted by the Energy Institute in collaboration with the International Assocaition of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) and other aligned organisations, following the retirement of the MGP.
Our speakers:
- Laura Reid (CNOOC) - Laura has experience in atmospheric emissions monitoring, regulation and policy through her roles in Regulation and Oil&Gas. Starting in CNOOC International as an EHS Advisor on the Buzzard platform, Laura provided environmental guidance and managed ETS compliance, later advancing to roles such as Offshore HSE&A Supervisor and Onshore HSE Advisor, where she facilitated regulatory compliance, incident investigations, and ETS verifications for major production assets. Now, as Senior Net Zero Specialist, Laura manages Net Zero workstreams, presenting strategies to leadership and coordinating with asset teams and joint venture partners.
- James Shannon (ERM) - James is an environmental specialist with over 20 years of experience in both regulatory roles and industry, focusing on compliance and the development of environmental and energy management systems. Over the past decade, James has concentrated on carbon-intensive energy industries, specialising in atmospheric emissions management. This work has primarily involved upstream, offshore, oil and gas industries, collaborating with both operators and consultants. At ERM, James is dedicated to advancing carbon reduction strategies in industrial operations. Their expertise in global GHG emissions regulations and environmental systems enables them to optimise complex facilities. By working closely with clients, James successfully navigates the challenges of environmental compliance, enhancing our collective impact on sustainability.
- José Dominguez (Baker Hughes) - José has over 15 years of experience in the Oil and Gas and Process industries, with a professional background in sales, engineering, business development and business consultancy. José started his professional path in the process world back in 2007 and grew through different roles to European Product Specialist with Panametrics.
- Daniel Cusworth (Carbon Mapper) - Daniel is the Science Director for Carbon Mapper. Carbon Mapper’s mission is to drive greenhouse gas emission reductions by making methane and carbon dioxide data accessible and actionable. Daniel oversees algorithm development, validation, analysis, and applications of airborne and satellite greenhouse gas datasets. He was formerly a Data Scientist at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and a Research Scientist at University of Arizona and worked on quantification of anthropogenic carbon dioxide and methane emissions from regional to facility scales.
