Dr Jennifer Holmgren, Chief Executive Officer of LanzaTech (NASDAQ: LNZA), has been made an Honorary Fellow of the Energy Institute (EI), the UK-based professional body spanning the world of energy, in recognition of her leadership in the fields of aviation biofuels and clean energy technologies.

The presentation was made by the EI’s Chief Executive, Dr Nick Wayth FEI, at the Sustainable Market Initiative’s Summit in New York, during Climate Week NYC.

Honorary Fellowship is awarded to distinguished individuals judged by the EI Council, chaired by its President Juliet Davenport OBE HonFEI, to have made a positive, distinctive and sustained contribution to the objectives of the Institute – namely the promotion for the public benefit of the science of energy and fuels in all applications and uses.

Nick Wayth FEI said:

“As CEO of LanzaTech, and in previous senior leadership positions, Jennifer has been at the forefront of the development of aviation biofuels, including the world’s first alternative jet fuel derived from industrial waste gases, as well as carbon recycling technology.

“Through our collaborative work with the Sustainable Markets Initiative, I’ve witnessed firsthand Jennifer’s sustained commitment to tackling the energy transition. As an industry innovator and champion, Jennifer is a worthy recipient of the Institute’s Honorary Fellowship.

Dr Jennifer Holmgren HonFEI said:

“We need all sustainable solutions to enable the energy transition and I have been privileged to work with some incredible innovators, national labs, government agencies, academics, industry leaders and friends over the course of my career who have all played a part in getting new technologies to market so we can start delivering a future with energy security, regional growth opportunities and sustainable alternatives to our fossil based economy. I am honoured by this recognition.”

Dr Holmgren has been the Chief Executive of LanzaTech since 2010. Prior to LanzaTech, Jennifer founded and led UOP’s (Honeywell) renewable energy and chemicals division. Jennifer is the author or co-author of 50 U.S. patents and more than 30 scientific publications, and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering (USA).

Jennifer has an honorary doctorate from Delft University of Technology, and is on the Governing Council for the Bio Energy Research Institute in India, the Advisory Council for the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment at Princeton University, the National Academies Board on Energy and Environmental Systems (BEES), the External Advisory Committee for the Advanced Energy Technologies Directorate (AET) at Argonne National Laboratory, the Advisory Council for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), the Halliburton Labs Advisory Board, the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS International Advisory Council, and the Founder Advisory for The Engine, a venture capital fund built by MIT that invests in early-stage science and engineering companies.
