James Patterson is a Director of Prometheus Energy Consulting. James has a B Eng (Hons) in Fuel and Energy Engineering from the University of Leeds, and is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Energy Institute and a Member of the EI’s Energy Efficiency Experts Register (ESOS Lead Assessor). He has over 30 years’ experience in energy and carbon management consultancy across most industrial, commercial and public sectors in the UK and Internationally. He has carried out several hundreds of energy audits including many for ESOS/EED compliance purposes and is also an expert on the development of ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems. He has particular expertise on the identification of decarbonisation opportunities in industrial processes and commercial and public sector buildings, and the development of net zero carbon pathways consistent with the PAS 51215:2025 standard.

I am an independent energy consultant based in South Yorkshire. I am experienced in
supporting organisations to reduce their energy consumption, completing technical surveys to
identify and quantify opportunities for energy efficiency. Clients have included manufacturers,
SMEs, higher education, and public sector. I am a Chartered Engineer (CEng), and
experienced in ESOS surveys.
