Interim Registration (Engineer)

Take the first step towards Professional Registration

Interim Registration (Engineer) recognises that you’ve met the educational standards set by the Engineering Council and are on your way to becoming fully professionally registered. It’s the ideal way to show employers and peers that you’re serious about your engineering career — giving you your first professional title while you build the experience required for full registration.

What are the benefits of Interim Registration (Engineer)?

  • Demonstrates commitment to the profession: Obtaining interim registration shows employers, colleagues, and clients that you are committed to the highest professional standards and are actively working toward full chartership.
  • Strengthens job applications: This early recognition gives you a significant advantage over other recently graduated engineers when applying for jobs. It provides tangible proof of your foundational knowledge.

Who is it for?

  • Graduates: If you’ve completed your degree but haven’t yet gained enough professional experience for full registration, Interim Registration confirms that you’re already part way there.
  • Those with non-accredited qualifications: If your qualifications aren’t automatically recognised by the Engineering Council, Interim Registration allows us to assess your qualifications and experience against the same standards as accredited programmes and advise on any gaps you need to fill.

Accredited Qualifications

If your qualifications are accredited for the registration level you’re aiming for (EngTech, IEng or CEng), you may already meet the educational requirements and be eligible for automatic recognition.
