The costs and benefits of conflict in the workplace - some tools to help you deal with it.

When managed well, conflict in the workplace can increase creativity, enhance innovation and help us solve difficult problems. But often it’s not managed well. Destructive conflict costs UK businesses over 360 million lost working days every year, reduces productivity, increases stress and makes the workplace an unpleasant place to be. Yet often line managers and HR professionals are expected to “just know” how to deal with it - so what can you do about it?

In January's meeting, Gillian Thomson, Managing Director of GT Limited will share her almost 20 years worth of experience in dealing with conflict in the workplace, and leave you with some tips and tools for turning destructive conflict around.

Gillian Thomson brings nearly 20 years of senior leadership development and HR experience to her consulting and coaching clients. Gillian believes that people aren’t just assets, but that each individual is uniquely talented, and that harnessing that talent is the key to success. Initially qualifying as an engineer, Gillian moved into HR early in her career, spending 15 years working in organisations such as Diageo, Mars, RBS and Centrica delivering in a mixture of increasingly senior HR and specialist Talent and Learning & Development roles.
