The EI YPN Nigeria (currently headquartered in Lagos), is the local chapter of the global EI YPN. Officially launched in 2019.
Our mission is “to provide young professionals in the energy industry with the right learning, networking and opportunities required to meet the urgent and growing energy needs, both in Nigeria and globally.” We provide young professionals with the right opportunities through events, mentorship, networking and training in the energy industry.
The Nigeria YPN is ran by a collective of 13 young professionals from a wide range of disciplines across the energy sector. All members of the committee help keep our busy events program running with individuals specialising on various key areas. Our diverse and dynamic group meet every month to create, plan and deliver an exciting calendar of events and initiatives to bring Nigeria and Africa’s Energy young professionals together.
As a committee member you get to sculpt what the YPN provides, host events on topics you are passionate about, build your network amongst established industry figures and deepen your understanding of the broader sector.
We are opening the committee for new applicants and have up to 9 places available. Successful applicants will be required to attend the AGM (or submit a video in advance if unable) to be considered for a position through the voting process. Attendance at the AGM is strongly recommended.
We would also like to hear from the wider YPN membership – you! How was our 2019-2020 calendar of events was for you? What you would like to see more of from the YPN in the coming year? A lot changed in 2020 and we will be adapting to the changing needs of our membership base, to do that we would love to hear from you during the AGM.

In order to complete the course, I had to take an exam and complete an energy audit portfolio, which I took great joy in putting together. After this, I am hoping to complete the second stage of my training with the Energy Institute (Level 2 Energy Management Professional). I then plan to progress to Level 3 ‘Advanced Energy Manager’ training qualification, and to apply to become a Chartered Energy Manager."

The Level 3: Advanced Energy Manager course exceeded my expectations. The course was delivered by energy industry professionals with years of experience, who all ensured that each topic was explained and talked through until everyone in the room was comfortable with it. We started the course as a group of strangers, but even though the course finished almost a year ago, we still carry on meeting over good food or a drink to discuss the energy industry and our next career steps.

"The difficult economic situation that we are going through must push loss-adjusting firms, based in Morocco, to open up more internationally. However, gaining the trust of the major players in the insurance industry, particularly in London, Paris or Munich, is not an easy task. Admittedly, the requirements are not the same, given the size of the Moroccan market, but we can try to get as close as possible to them by obtaining certificates recognised abroad. Therefore, I would like to thank the Energy Institute for the online training courses offered, rich in information on issues we often encounter in our business. However, I'm not going to miss the stress of some of the exam questions!"

"Before the course, I had a little professional experience in domestic zero-carbon energy technology but I was inexperienced in any other theory and practical topic, audits etc. This provided me with the building blocks to understand this, including the calculations, quickly. The course tutor, Chris was excellent in his teaching, knowledge and support. He made it easy to learn with his patient and insightful teaching style and very clear instructions. Chris provides individual support throughout the course and beyond which is incredibly valuable for someone like myself who is fairly new to the energy industry.
The trip to Southbank University was a great addition and allowed for some much-needed practical learning and informal bonding with fellow coursemates and Chris. The EI Team at the EI HQ were also great and popped in to check everyone is happy and to have a chat. Overall a hugely beneficial course and enjoyable experience and would recommend it over and over again."
