The Energy Institute Nigeria has put together this conference to lend its voice among other energy players in Nigeria and the African Energy space to chart a pathway for a sustainable energy future. We believe the subject of Energy Sustainability is one that concerns every citizen of the world today as different forms of energy facilitate our everyday activities, these activities either deplete or sustains our energy future. The Energy Institute’s purpose is to develop and exchange knowledge, skills, and good practice towards a safe, secure, and sustainable energy system.

As an independent body rather than a commercial conference provider, Energy Institute Nigeria organizes the Energy Sustainability Conference to provide a platform where key industry stakeholders gather to network and offer quality debate for the common interest of the public.

Event details:

The Nigeria branch of the Energy Institute is proud to host Energy Sustainability Conference (ESC) in partnership with the UK Department for International Trade (UKDIT).

As governments and companies worldwide grapple with the twin challenges of climate change and access to energy, a diverse mix of energy supply and demand technologies will be required. These challenges have inspired us at the Energy Institute (EI) Nigeria to create a platform for all stakeholders to discuss the pathway towards a sustainable energy future for Nigeria, with the clear knowledge that oil and gas companies will be an important part of the solution. For the industry, this means changing business models, using emission reduction, capture and storage technologies and building capacity among the workforce towards more sustainable operations.

The Energy Sustainability Conference (ESC) was designed to create a platform for professionals to exchange knowledge and experience in this global journey to transit to a cleaner, safe, and more sustainable energy system. The ESC has now become an all-embracing platform that brings stakeholders together to share their views on how energy mix dynamics can meet the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations.

In furtherance of the objectives of the Energy Institute (EI) Nigeria, the Energy Sustainability Conference (ESC) has been strategically designed to enhance and exchange knowledge, skills, and good conduct for a safe, secure and sustainable energy system. It is an all-embracing singular platform that brings energy (oil, gas, coal, nuclear, power, renewables, etc) stakeholders together to share experiences, views, and outlooks on global energy in particular in Nigeria and across Africa, through discussions, networking, and co-creating options and solutions to critical energy issues and challenges.

In 2019, we had a convergence of Internationally recognized speakers, academic professionals, business leaders, policymakers, regulators, as well as energy consultants and analysts to discuss and analyze critical issues beyond the Nigerian Energy market. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were unable to hold the conference in 2020. However, after taking into consideration the covid-19 protocols, the conference will be held this year. The proposed theme for this year is “Accelerating Changes In The Energy Structure Through Policy Implementation: Prospects And Limitations”. This year’s conference will bring together top government officials in the energy industry and seasoned energy professionals to discuss the theme. Beyond, the discussions, we will have a breakfast briefing for investors and organizations seeking market expansion. These discussions will be anchored by Energy, Legal, and Finance experts from sub-Saharan Africa.

Nearly 250 delegates attended the Energy Sustainability Conference 2019 hosted by the Energy Institute Nigeria where leaders from the African energy sector shared their wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise in a full-day conference with break-out sessions in Oil & Gas, power, and renewables. The ESC is positioned to give a broad view of sustainable Energy for Africa.

Energy Sustainability Conference (ESC) is organized by the Energy Institute Nigeria.
