Overview:

The intention of this publication is to provide guidance for assessing ageing and life extension (ALE) of non-metallic components in the offshore oil and gas industry and specifically to address ALE in subsea flexible and offshore marine hoses in order to facilitate good practice throughout the industry.

ALE of non-metallic components within flexible products is a challenging task due to the many factors involved in their design and where traditional methodologies have focused on metallic components or rigid pipe products. The guidance provides an overview of the non-metallic components within flexible pipes and hoses, their manufacture, and degradation mechanisms. It also brings together assessment approaches across the industry and evaluates these methods for use in ageing and life extension assessment of non-metallic components in these flexible products.
