Overview:
The third edition of this publication provides guidance to designers, engineers and operators of airport fuel hydrant systems in the use of water as the test liquid for the initial pressure strength testing of new aviation fuel hydrant systems. It is also applicable to testing extensions of existing hydrant systems where positive isolation can be achieved between the extension and the existing or operational part of the system.
The main aim of the publication is to recommend dewatering and drying procedures that are required to bring hydrant systems into commission after they have been tested with water. The recommendations have been updated and revalidated in this third edition.
The procedures recommended in this publication are non-routine activities that require detailed and thorough planning, including the preparation of a detailed Method Statement, Risk Assessment Analysis and the use of a Permit-to-Work system throughout the operation.
