3491 EI Research report: Electrostatic charging tests for aviation fuel filter/water separators (FWS)

Overview:

This publication provides a report of work undertaken by Dr Harold Walmsley (Harold Walmsley Electrostatics Ltd), at the request of the EI's Aviation Committee, in support of the development of EI 1581 Specifications and laboratory qualification procedures for aviation fuel filter/water separators.

A test method is provided to enable filter/water separator manufacturers to establish fuel charge densities generated by filter/water separator systems. It is the intention that testing in accordance with this publication will be implemented as part of the qualification testing to EI 1581.

The information contained in this publication will be of interest to manufacturers of aviation fuel filtration systems and all organisations involved in aviation fuel handling.
