To access your free ‘Microbes in Fuel’ online training course, you will first need to go to our online Learning Centre here

- It will prompt you to Log in, or create a new account in case you are new to the EI
- Launch ‘Microbes in Fuel’ (you will need to allow your popup windows)
- You should now have access to the course homepage where you will be able to begin.
This training tool, which is accessible on the EI training site, makes the user aware of the issues surrounding microbiological contamination of fuel including:
- factors that could cause/exacerbate microbial growth;
- procedures to help to avoid microbial growth;
- microbiological monitoring, and
- remediation options if contamination occurs.
The Microbes in fuels training tool complements the EI Guidelines for the investigation of the microbial content of petroleum fuels and for the implementation of avoidance and remedial strategies, as well as Guidelines on detecting, controlling and mitigating microbial growth in oils and fuels used at power generation facilities
