3530 Investigation into the risk and impact associated with non-diesel fuel engine vehicles, by type, whilst entering or working within hazardous storage locations (Phase 3)

Overview:

The Road to Zero sets out a path for zero emissions and ultra-low emission vehicles, clearly setting out a drive for manufacturers to develop and sell alternative fuelled vehicles moving forward.

Whilst dangerous goods vehicles comply with ADR 2017 and the Carriage of Dangerous Goods regulations, previously, no such regulation existed to cover other classes of vehicles such as HGVs, light goods vehicles, or forklifts which may operate on terminals or other oil/gas handling facilities.

Whilst many UK storage and other oil and gas handling facilities operate a high level of safety and have a very good track record, this guidance addresses and identifies any risks for all classes of vehicle and vehicle power source / fuel that may be used, develop a suitable good practice guidance document to assist operators to achieve and maintain an acceptable level of safety, and develop an associated risk matrix.

This is the third and final phase of the guidance, providing good practice guidance regarding risk reduction measures for Electric, Petrol, Hybrid (petrol and electric), Compressed hydrogen fuel cells, and Liquid hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles.
