The purpose of this handbook is to provide new starters and non-corrosion specialist personnel working in the oil and gas industry with an introduction to the corrosion and degradation threats which can cause the failure of Safety and Environmentally Critical Elements (SECE) and hence cause hydrocarbon leaks.

This “Corrosion and Degradation Threats” Handbook makes reference to The Energy Institute’s “Guidance for corrosion management in oil and gas production and processing” 2nd edition which readers are referred to for more detailed information on the technical content in this document.
