3600 Guidelines on use of polymer based repair compounds in integrity management

Overview:

Repair compounds have been used extensively in the oil and gas industry on safety-critical equipment for many years, e.g. for filling corrosion pits to prevent further loss of wall thickness; however, there is no independently available guidance on their application and use other than that from the manufacturers/suppliers of such materials.

The intention of this publication is to provide guidance for the safe and successful application and use of polymer based repair compounds in a range of applications for METALLIC substrates including, but not limited to, pressure vessels, flange faces and external surfaces of piping and other metalwork in order to facilitate good practice throughout the industry.

Although it is anticipated that following this publication will assist those involved in the management of polymer based repair compounds, the information contained in this publication is provided as guidance only.
