Overview:
Traditionally, actions to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) from oil refineries have focused on carbon dioxide (CO2). This research report reviews the sources and magnitude of emissions of the other five greenhouse gases listed in the Kyoto Protocol – methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and sulfur hexafluoride – within the UK refining sector.
