3523 Research report: Question-set to understand and evaluate socio-technical resilience (QUESTOR)

In 2021, the EI published Research report: Achieving greater resilience to major events – Organisational learning for safety risk management in complex environments. The report created a set of expectations of good practice and it was suggested that, if organisations could benchmark themselves against these expectations, they could identify organisational weaknesses and make interventions to minimise these, potentially avoiding future incidents.

Research report: Question-set to understand and evaluate socio-technical organisational resilience (QUESTOR) developed a methodology to help organisations identify potential shortfalls in meeting these expectations, resulting in a practical tool (QUESTOR) for use by leaders, managers, ‘specialists’ and a sample of the workforce.

This report explains the background research that went into the creation of QUESTOR, explains what the question sets cover, and provides instructions on how to use QUESTOR and how to interpret the results.  This report also includes a link to download the QUESTOR tool (which includes questions and graphs to analyse the results) free of charge.
