Overview:
The purpose of the Guidelines for the training of road tanker drivers at terminals is to integrate and define the training and competency needs, as far as possible, thus presenting a consistent approach to road tanker drivers, and provide a standard methodology for managing their competency. The inclusive training curriculum addresses the generic hazards and risks that road tanker drivers encounter in terminal operations, and the control and mitigating measures that need to be understood and applied to ensure safe work practices.
Adoption of these guidelines should assist employers, employees and contractors to satisfy their health, safety and environmental obligations, and to protect their health, safety and environment by encouraging responsible safe work practices.
These guidelines are intended to supersede the previously published Guidelines for terminal induction training of road tanker drivers, 1st edition
