This document has been produced following the adoption by the European Union (EU) of an updated version of the Seveso directive 2012/18/EU. The updated directive introduces a number of changes and this impact analysis aims to consider the implication of these changes for petroleum distribution terminal operators. These changes will be implemented in the United Kingdom (UK) through an updated version of the Control of major accident hazard regulations (COMAH), which will come into effect on the 1 June 2015.
This document has been prepared as an impact analysis and is structured to present detailed comparisons between the full text of the previous Seveso II directive and the new Seveso III directive, along with the likely impact on distribution terminal operators.
