Overview:
EI Pocket guide to safety for operatives and contractors working at petroleum distribution installations (‘Pocket safety guide’) is intended for all personnel, both company workforce and contractors, working on installations that process, handle or store petroleum products. It is a general guide to safety and is intended to supplement the detailed risk assessments, operational and safety manuals that may be applicable to sites, and not to replace them. It is also intended to complement
training programmes and can be used in tool box talks.
Where there are any doubts relating to safety for an operation you are working on you should consult your supervisor and the detailed site manuals. The principles of risk assessment have been used in the preparation of the EI Pocket safety guide and an introduction to these principles follows.
The 2nd edition of this publication replaces Pocket guide to safety for personnel working on oil installations (1st ed.).
